Churchill ‘The Emperor of the East’. When Eisenhower paid court to
Roosevelt, Macmillan said to Bob Murphy, ‘Isn’t he just like a Roman
centurion?’ The classical analogy famously went further. To Dick Crossman,
Director of Psychological Warfare at AFHQ, he said:
