Third Reporting Period
•
Students are to form into groups of 2, 3 or 4.
•
Students in each group chose a book they want to read together. Books can come from the classroom, home, school library, public library, a book store, or any other source.
•
Students divide the book into sections to be read each week so that the book is read in a reasonable amount of time.
•
Students read the material and answer the questions provided to them on the
Student Resource
page of
InstructorDave.org
.
•
Students discuss the book and the questions with each other.
•
After the students have read, answered the questions, and discussed the book and questions with each other, they set a time to meet with Mr. Martocchio to discuss the book and questions.
•
If the students are in agreement and have a good knowledge of what the reading was about and have thoughtful answers to the questions, they will be checked off for the work.
•
If the students are not in agreement and/or do not have a good knowledge of what the reading was about and don’t have thoughtful answers to the questions they will not be checked off and will be asked to
read and discuss the questions some more.
•
If a member, or more than one member of the group is not keeping up with their reading and preparation, and another member or more are keeping up with their reading and preparation, then that member or
members of the group that are ready to meet with me to get checked off on their Book Club can meet with me without the rest of the group. If that member or members of the group do well while meeting
with me, then that member or members will be checked off for their work while the member or members of the group that did not meat with me will not be checked off.
