Diverse Economy
An economy that is based on many industries.
Democracy
A form of government in which the people have power to
make choices about their lives and government, either
directly or through representation.
Technology
The use of knowledge or tools to make or do something.
Checks and Balances
A system that gives each branch of government different
powers so that each branch can watch over the authority
of the others.
Labor Union
An organization of workers whose goal is to improve
working conditions.
Creed
A system of beliefs.
Commute
To travel back and forth between work and home.
Ideal
A goal.
Urban Sprawl
The outward spread of urban areas.
Patriotism
Love of one’s country.
Strike
A time when workers stop working to get employers to
listen to their needs.
Constitutional Democracy
A form of democratic governance that uses a constitution
as a set of laws to establish how the government should
run.

A decision by a group of people not to buy something
until a certain problem is fi xed.

The power or right to give orders or make decisions.

Having to do with building and testing equipment for air

Keeping people of one race of culture separate from

The rights of citizens to equal treatment.
