H
iring a professional logo designer is an important step in forming a business. What you may not realize is that the growth of logos from a simple
craftsperson's signature to the basis for relationships between companies and customers is a new development. Before the Industrial Revolution, people
purchased goods directly from the craftsperson, the grocer, and the farmer. Pottery, woodwork, stonework and even bread carried a stamp of the
craftsperson—a signature of someone you could shake the hand of.
When designing a
logo
, it's important to think carefully about what it will convey to others. Every shape, line, and color in a logo will send a message to all who
see it. Logos surround the world that we live in, they give us a visual representation of something that would not other wise be visual.
There are basically three kinds of logos. Font-based, literally illustration, abstract graphic.
Font-based logos
are primarily edited type/Font. Sony’s logo is an example of a font-based logo. Then there are logos that
literally illustrate
what a company
does, such as when a house-painting company uses an illustration of a brush in its logo. And fi nally, there are

symbols-such as Nike's
