Hemisphere
A half of the Earth
Landform Region
One of the areas that make up Earth’s surface, such as
mountains, hills, or plains.
Equator
The imaginary line that divides Earth into the Northern
Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
Climate
The kind of weather a place has most often, year after
year.
Prime Meridian
The imaginary line that divides Earth into the Western
Hemisphere and the Eastern Hemisphere.
Environment
The surroundings.
Relative Location
Where a place is in relation to one or more other places
on Earth.
Ancestor
An early family member.
Natural Region
A region made up of places that share the same kinds of
physical, or natural, features, such as plains, mountains,
valleys, or deserts.
Theory
An idea based on study and research.
Tributary
A river that flows into a larger river.
Migration
The movement of people or animals from one area to
another.
Delta
Land built up from soil carried by rivers.
Artifact
An object made by early people.
Fertile
Soil that is good for growing crops.
Legend
A story handed down over time, often to explain the past.
Irrigation
The use of canals, ditches, or pipes to carry water to dry
places.
Generation
The average time between the birth of parents and the
birth of their children.
Harbor
A protected area of water where ships can dock safely.
Nomad
A wanderer who has no settled home.
