A
portrait
is where the artist
tries to capture
the
“beauty” of the
subject. Usually it is in the form of a painting, drawing, or similar
graphic image;
P
ortraits occur in other media such as sculpture, photography, cinema
or video
, literature, and digital art. A good
portrait tries to let the viewer see into the soul of a person….
Our
faces are one of the most important, unique and
expressive tools that all human beings use to communicate personal emotions.

Your job is to use the Principle of Art (Proportion) to create an accurate
looking face. You cannot use a grid or ruler to guide you. The goal is to
force you to be able to “see” naturally the lines, shapes, form, and space
between objects.
The goal of this assignment is the process of proportioning and
perspective.
You will
create a
realistic
drawing of a
straight on photo of a real
Face
.
(straight on means you can see both ears and the eyes are the same
size)
•
(This must be a human Male or Female face w/ hair)
•
Your shading must reflect the style shown to you.
(See Pinterest
“Ghost Face references)
•
You will only shade: the whole eye area, nose, mouth, outside
frame of the face, and hair parts.
(See Pinterest “Ghost Face references)
•
Because you are not shading the whole face your lines and
values need to be very accurate.
•
All shaded areas must have a Full Range of Values.
